Specialisations and Interests

Natercia joind Shepstone & Wylie in 2020 as a candidate attorney in the litigation department.  After gaining experience in Litigation, she transitioned to the environmental law department, where she further developed her expertise, completing a Master of Laws with a specialisation in Environmental Law.

Her practice covers varios areas of environmental law, including water law, air quality regulations, waste law, and sustainability issues.  She has a particular focus on environmental legal compliance, conducting audits across South Africa in both lead auditor and co-auditor roles.  In addition, Natercia has assisted clients with litigating environmental matters in the Magistrates Court, High Court, Supreme Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court.

She is involved in several professional and community focused roles.  She is a trustee of the Sibudu Trust, which aims to preserve the Sibudu Cave (a UNESCO World Heritage site) for the benefit of current and future generations.  In 2025, she will serve as a director of the South African Association for Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR) which focuses on marine conservation, research and sustainable use of marine resources.  Natercia is also a member of the International Association for Impact Assessment, the National Association for Clean Air, and the Institute of Waste Management of South Africa.
